Job Description

The Apprentice Electrician will work under the supervision of an Electrician, and will be expected to perform the following duties, tasks, and responsibilities below:

  • Reads, interprets, and executes drawings, schematics, blueprints, and electrical code specifications to see layout of commercial electrical equipment installations
  • Tests electrical and equipment and parts for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance
  • Installs repairs, or replaces electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic, and line assemblies, lighting, and alternative electrical parts
  • Installs, repairs, or replaces generators and industrial storage batteries
  • Do preventive maintenance and testing of electrical systems (including power distribution equipment)
  • Installs electrical circuits, as well as panels, conduit, protecting devices, switches, and equipment required to accommodate the CEC and/or NEC
  • Works on electrical failures and replaces components wherever production time is often affected
  • Corrects connections and wiring on equipment controls wherever incorrect applications may cause harm and dangerous conditions
  • Conducts preventive and maintenance programs, and also keeps maintenance records
  • May install, maintain, and calibrate industrial equipment and connected devices
  • Monitor safety per Clark Electrics & OSHA safety requirements

Skills:

  • Positively identify colors of wire and other items as required.
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
  • Bend conduit by hand with hand benders.
  • Must have the ability to use safely the required power tools.
  • Must be able to safely operate equipment (trenchers, lift trucks, aerial lifts, etc.).
  • Operate and work from mechanical personal lifts (electric or gas powered).
  • Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment.
  • Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Handbook.
  • Operate two handed tools as required.
  • Assist Supervisor or designated person with energized circuits and equipment as outlined in the Company Safety Policy Manual.

Physical Functions:

  • Must hear and see well (either natural or with correction).
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
  • Able to lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Tolerant to prolonged standing and movement on foot.
  • Climb ladders (all types).
  • Complete overhead work for extended periods of time.
  • Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately install conduit, wire, pre-fab assemblies, panel boards, light fixtures, devices, and other equipment per layout by the Supervisor or designated person.
  • Minimize waste of materials
  • Assure quality of the installation by installing correctly the first time
  • Follow diagrams and blueprints to ensure that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring are installed.
  • Measure, cut, thread, ream, assemble, and install conduit, using such tools as hacksaw, band saw, pipe threader and conduit bender(s).
  • Pulling wire; splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or other means, twisting wires together, and applying terminal connectors and or tape.
  • Connect wiring to light fixtures, power equipment, motors, devices, and other electrical apparatus, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Test continuity of circuits, circuit wiring to ensure compatibility and safety of components using test instruments.
  • Observe functions of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • May repair faulty equipment or systems
  • Monitor safety per Clark Electrics & OSHA safety requirements
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate efficient knowledge of trade.
  • Coordinate installation with other trades.
  • Responsible for getting materials and proper tools together to complete assigned task. 
  • Assist Supervisor or designated person to trouble- shoot electrical branch circuits and feeders

Job Description

As a journeyman electrician, you will be asked to complete a wide variety of tasks. You should be able to perform inspections and conduct assessments of electrical systems. You should also be able to read blueprints and interpret them in order to determine the best way to resolve the problems in an electrical system. To accomplish all of this, you will need to have a deep familiarity with wiring, commonly-used electrical tools, and various components. You must have an active Journeyman’s license in the State of Florida.

Job Description

This person must have over 5 years of experience on commercial projects and highly knowledgeable of the trade and codes.  This position is responsible for directing and supervising the efforts of the field labor crew on all work associated with the electrical construction job activities of Clark Electric necessary to support the Company’s short-term and long-term goals and objectives.  The Foreman will provide the guidance, counsel and training to all assigned Company field personnel, as required, that provides for the timely and successful completion of each assigned field project.  Other key responsibilities include coordinating the efforts of all members of the field work crew to ensure that the proper level of quality is achieved on all work performed; to ensure that actual job costs are consistent with, or lower than, the estimated costs on all job installation projects; to maintain a frequent level of communication with the Project Manager, Director of Operations and President that provides complete up-to-date knowledge as to job site activities, and any related special projects as required.

Preferred Job Skills:

Proficiency in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook), demonstrate knowledge and understanding of construction delivery systems, the construction administration processes, building trades, technical aspects of construction including means and methods, materials, building systems, planning, scheduling and estimating, effective written and verbal language/communication skills, developed negotiating skills, effective time management and organization skills, basic and all necessary math skills, ability to read plans, and effective communication skills.

Management Skills:

Monitor all job site control reporting measures, conduct weekly coordination and safety meetings, prepare and maintain three-week look ahead schedules, daily reports, coordinate the timely completion of all punch lists and work completion lists.

Mandatory Hiring Requirements:

Successful completion of a drug screen and MVR, dependable transportation, valid Driver’s License, must demonstrate and uphold all of Clark Electric’s core values, which include Accountability, Trust, Safety, Quality, and Culture. Works well with a diverse group of people, strong work ethic and moral character, strong written and verbal communicative skills, ability to communicate and plan with management. Journeyman License Preferred. OSHA 10 or 30 preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of projects. Plan/organize/direct labor and materials to meet customer schedule.
  • Ensure all installations meet/exceed electrical code standards.
  • Foster relationships with customers, inspectors and peers. Interact effectively with clients, contractors, management, and other employees while promoting a positive customer service environment and positive work climate
  • Ensure adherence to standards of quality, safety and best practices.
  • Schedule and provide labor as needed. Review and monitor labor efficiencies, hours and ratios. Project the labor needs for the duration of the project with monthly updates.
  • Track and monitor material costs, storage, consumed and ordered to identify potential problems while minimizing cost and overruns to the Company.
  • Prepare, review, distribute and/or maintain all required installation documentation.
  • Ensure Company policies and guidelines are followed.
  • Monitor and address safety hazards or potential problems with Foreman and site management.

Qualifications:

  • Must have five (5) or more years’ experience/knowledge of electrical construction, design, and cost management as a Foreman or in a similar position in Commercial, Institutional and Industrial environment
  • Have thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods, etc.)
  • Experience managing mid to high rise building and/or high-end hotel projects is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to present self in a professional manner and represent the company image
  • Demonstrated leadership and project success are expected.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Are organized, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • In-depth knowledge of the NFPA codes and has strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes and OSHA safety standards.
  • Experience managing crews, material cost control and scheduling.
